EJ converted L series registration in Victoria

Hi,
Anyone had the experience of registering an EJ converted L series in Victoria? They seem to pop up for sale every now and again, particularly in South Australia, where I suspect the registration rules may be a little less full on when it comes to putting something modified on the road.

Not yet... But my L is already rego'd, I've gotta change the engine number and am hoping that it'll pass without notice.
If you're L has an adaptor plate you'll need an engineer's certificate - I reckon I'll need one for the upgrade from a 1.8ltr to a 2.2ltr. The subi will be engineered soon with some lift and oversized tyres if the engineer agrees with what I want to do...
An EJ20 or EJ18 would pass fine as its within the allowable capacity increase AFAIK - but again that adaptor plate issue arises again if you have one. To get around an adaptor plate you can put the L series internals into an EJ gearbox casing - its not too hard if you're mechanically minded. This is what I've done with my L and its worked well for the 300 odd km's I've covered in it so far...
Make some enquires with vicroads, that will be your best bet.

Thanks for the reply mate.
I spoke to a bloke once about it and one thing he also mentioned brakes. Increased horse power - requires increased brakes. Potentially a disc to disc rear end would pull it thorugh ok. Any ideas about what the engineering inspection costs would be roughtly, assuming everything is ok and up to specs?
