I think you'll find that its an EJ20 motor unless someone was able to do a swap on you!

Best ECU would be Motec or Autronic.

Or you could use the original ECU that comes with the engine. Good chance this will work well if the motor is still standard spec.

To see what sort of motor it is look on the engine block just on the passengers side of the alternator. There was no such engine an EJ22TT. It may have had a 2.2 block put in the middle but I very much doubt it.

You will be hard pressed finding an after market ecu that will run the sequentialising of the turbos.

What model TT is it? I have a stack of ecus here and am pretty sure I would have the correct one. Look under the oil filler cap and find the manufacture date. Also look at the colour of the injectors. Let me know both and I will see what I have to suit.

the ej22 was turbo-ed

EJ22G Turbo DOHC

* Horsepower: 280 PS (206 kW; 276 bhp) @ 6000 rpm
* Torque: 362.8 N·m (268 lb·ft) @ 3200 rpm

Usage:

* Impreza STi 22B GC8 series(JDM)
* Legacy BF7 and BFB series (JDM)

they were made for the Japan market

He said

"There was no such engine an EJ22TT"

which is correct

I believe that the wiki site is incorrect. Sure there was the 22b impreza but there was no such 2.2 ltre turbo Legacy.

Pretty sure I heard that in the USA they have EJ22T's. Not sure if it was in the legacy or Impreza range though...

while the wiki site might be inacurate I do know that America had the turbo option on the ej22 as did Japan as Ive seen ej22 motors from both countries with turbos at wreckers, it wouldn't be hard to fit a sequential system on one but getting it to run properly would be an electrical and mechanical engineering feat of madness

we still have not heard back from dirtcurcuit10 on what is written on the block of his engine :)

Yeah there is EJ22T in Legacy.. but not sure what models tho.. If you used the heads on normal EJ22 it wont help I believe.

Maybe someone is bullshitting you about the EJ22TT as you can probarbly work out from now, the EJ stands for the casing series, the 22 stands for 2.2 ltr motor and the TT stands for Twin Turbo. As Subaru never made a Twin Turbo 2.2 ltr I'm guessing it's either a EJ20 Twin Turbo or a EJ22 Single Turbo, both of which was made by Subaru. Either of these engines with run great with a Motec or Autronic ECUs. There is many other cheaper options out there thou.

But saying this, someone may have used a EJ22T block and fitted it to their EJ20TT engine but the EJ22T block are not that easy to come by. It it has had the conversion done, then I would not use any other aftermarket ECU than the ones already mentioned.

If it was me, I'd use the Motec.

I think there was a guy on Ozlib.com that built a EJ22 twin turbo.

But as far as factory fitted engines, there is...
EJ20 Turbo - WRX/ GenI RS Lib/ GT Foz/ GenIV GT Lib
EJ20 Twin Turbo - GenII GT and GenIII B4 Liberty
EJ22 SOHC Turbo (non intercooled) - USDM GenI Legacy
EJ22 DOHC Turbo - WRX STI 22B Coupe

hey sorry guys my mechanic and I need some help regarding the converstion of a ej20tt into a L series wagon 92 model. Can i use my ea82 five speed gearbox? I have noticed that the offset for the fly wheel is different so I'm going to try the ej20 fly wheel and I have a new sports clutch.
Does anyone know where i can get the gear box adaptor plate?????? (If my gear box can be used)
Another question......when i use the adaptor plate from engine to gear box, will i need to make any changes to the clutch fork or anything in that vacinity??
ANY HELP ON THIS WOULD BE APPRECIATED....SORTA STUCK ATM PLEASE TEXT ME ON 0400504553 AND I'LL CALL YA BACK :)
CHEERS, CHRIS
Also thanks to the blokes who have answered some of my questions, I am new to Subaru's and the place i got the import engine from told me it was an ej22tt but yeah once i got it ... turned out to be an ej20tt.

You can keep the original gearbox, but it probably won't last. And if it's part time 4wd, you'll be smoking tyres whenever you're in 2wd.

Use one of these to adapt the EJ engine to EA gearbox, or make your own - http://www.ausubaru.com/index.php?pageid=ejadapters

Keep the flywheel and clutch that match the gearbox. The fork will be fine, but the pressure plate might need upgrading for extra clamping pressure.

Forgot to mention - if you're keeping the EA flywheel, just drill or file out the holes to match the EJ crank. The adapter plate takes care of the different axial dimensions of the flywheels.
