Fitting EJ manual to My

I am still getting things together for the EJ to MY mod in the Brumby and I have come across a couple of people saying the EJ box does not fit in the trans tunnel without significant persuasion with a knock'o'meter.

Others have said yes it fits, but only if lifted.

I am not currently planning on lifting the Brumby at the same time as the transplant, mainly because I only want to have one can of worms at a time when I go to see the inspectors.

Only planning on a 2" lift, but what are the legalities in SA ?

As per previous posts, I want to keep the Brumby 100% legit legal due my work having the potential to send me anywhere in the country for extended periods (read - sell house, uplift family and re-register car in new state )

Some trans tunnels are smaller others larger, as far as I know auto MY's had the largest tunnels.

As yet I haven't got this far so this is just what I've read/been told, but when the time comes my tourer was auto so I should be lucky

The best way to find out is to just try it.

My AWD EJ box just fits in the tunnel, but the engine crossmember has 25mm spacers and the gearbox crossmember is custom. Thats in a GLF-5 (manual).

My FWD EJ box comfortably fits in my sedan's tunnel with no lift. Baron is right, the factory autos have a much larger tunnel.

Manual boxes fit, autos don't.

Hmm, that didn't come out quite the way I intended :) I am getting sorted to put the whole EJ driveline into the Brumby.

As for an adapter plate, I have not yet seen anybodys but I would assume there isn't much involved in changing which 'Way' the plate goes, EJ to MY or MY to EJ (Engine - Gearbox)

I know there are a couple of guys on the board who sell adapter plates, I do not know what your options are regarding the clutch.
