i fitted the dual carbs that i bought from xaymaca today... and they are sooo awesome :D the low down torque is so much better than the original it now carries third up hills that i would normally need to down shift on :D
the only problem i encountered was the air filters.... they are very tall and didn't fit under the bonnet :? . i'm guessing they fit under xaymacas bonnet because he had a lift kit installed.. correct? so i knocked up a temporary filter box using the old air filter which will do til i can find an origional air box.
overall an easy mod and its definately worth doin... if you can find a set 8)

Hmmm never thought about that!!! Try removing the top piece or the bottom piece of rubber and taking out a bit of the filter element then sticking the rubber base or top back on? You'll have to cut off a bit of the threaded rod that holds them on too.

See if you can do that... BTW, glad you like the carbies! 8)

you could always build a remote style box like I run on my twins

made of 100 x 50 RHS, holed and boxed up to sit on the carbies, fed by exhaust pipe and a steering rack boot for the flex to the VL commodore air filter box sitting where jack and cannister was.
Gives great filter capacity, modern flat style filter cartridges and something different

just an idea

yeh i was goin to do that but i was worried abou the amount of air that would be getting through seeing as the filters would be really small. the setup i got now works well i just got to re attach the breather hose from the left head back into the filter box.
o yeh thanks for the balancer :D the carbs were way out of sync so that came in very handy 8)

I always thought that a balancer would not work on this set up due to them being connected (therefore 'balanced' ) inside the manifold.

Proved wrong OR each to their own

Sound bite ? Of twin Hitachis on a Subaru

NO , NO , Don't do it without the air cleaner or everyone will reminisce of the days when lots of 2.0 litre Kombis with twins got around town !!
