Shaving Door Handles

Does any one know what the legalities are with regard to shaving door handles?

My understanding is that the electronic versions that require a remote control or similar to open the door are illegal because people may need to open them in an emergency. My panel beater/painter friend who is painting my brumby has offered to replace the door handles with a knob on the top of the window sill. All linkages and operation would be mechanical. Does anyone know of any reason I shouldn't do this?

What about putting flush fitting door handles of a different model of car.

If you could find some off a vortex that would be super cool. They look flush, but the little door pushes in

Kinda hard to see, but look closely

i dont know if its illegal but normally there is a manual release button under the car, so if people know, they can easily get in.

best not to ask in here on this one..surely your state/territory RTA will have a technical enquiry number to use and be able to quote you a rule number to apply.

You got me thinking there as my mate blue slipped a car that the owner showed him how to open door from outside as a matter of course when he dropped it off. Bend the mirror flat towards door and cable pulled it open - rather crude but it worked !

thinking maybe it should not have passed...

I think it might just be easier to leave the handles the way they are. I think I have probably just about bitten of more than I can chew with this car already.
