Hi, are extractors available for the ea81 motor

the exhaust that the subis come out with really are an extractor if you compare it to any other car with a standard exhaust , in that they nearlly all have an exhaust manifold whereas the Subis dont, you can have a tune lengthed header made but you will loose the boxer note allthough you will get a bit better hp , very minimal though.

Yeah, spot on Mike. You're best of keeping the standard headers. A 2.25" exhaust system will make all the difference though.

hey guys, I didn't realise, my car I just bought has an ea82 engine, I screwed up.

Thats ok, the answer remains the same, the EA81 and EA82 exhaust are basically identical except for catalytic converters.

While on the topic, and EA82 Y pipe used on EA81 as a performance mod, does the EA82 Y pipe actually bolt up to EA81 exhaust system as a direct replacement or does it require fabrication to fit and work ?

Yes the EA82 Y pipe bolts up to an EA81. No, it won't give any more performance, it will actually rob it if anything.

My wagon currently runs an EA82 with an EA81 exhaust. A previous setup on the car was actually an EA81 with an EA82 exhaust, someone had told me the EA82 headers were the go. I ended up swapping back to the EA81 headers as it was a noticeable difference.

I am talking about cat-less EA81 headers, I do realise the later EA81 headers had a cat as well, these aren't the ones I'm referring to.

Yes they bolt up. No, don't do it.

ah-ha, almost expected as much. Might lack torque down low but may flow better at revving its tits off - not looking for that.
