EJ22 from a manual Liberty into an Auto Liberty

Just a quick question.
I am looking at buying an EJ22 from a manual Liberty to go into an auto Liberty, they are both series one, 91/92.
What is the difference apart from the flywheel? What else will I need to swap?

absolutely no difference. youll need to swap over flywheel tho.

I'm not sure about the donor car, I'll need to ask, the recipient is AWD. What is the difference in the engines?

mechanically they are the same
but i beleive there "CAN" be slight differences between wiring ...but im not 100% sure anymore

1992 was the changeover year to series two and these have slightly different wiring. 2 grey engine loom plugs instead of 3 or vice versa, cant remember which. can still be made to work tho.

Check the spigot bearing also as most of the time they are slightly different (A bearing at the end of the crankshaft where the input shaft sits!) Would you beleive some car manufacturers went to the trouble of two different crankshafts for autos and manuals.

Wiring are different... I am not sure about the connectors & sensors on series 1 & 2..
Engine itself is same all you need is to change over the gearbox and rear diff to suit (if its AWD) since automatic is 4.11 and manual is either 3.7 or 3.9

the only engine difference is there is a shield to prevent the timing belt skipping on the manual engine. Wont bother you when using it with your auto.
why would he change gearbox or diff?
dree: try and buy a Series1 engine for your series1 car and you wont have any wiring issues

He won't have wiring issues anyway. He has S1 wiring in his car already, just use that.
- Buy your S2 auto or manual or whatever engine - does not matter
- Remove the engine harness from your new motor
- Remove the existing engine harness from your existing buggered motor
- Put your existing wiring harness onto your new motor
- Bolt in your new motor
It takes like 10 minutes to swap an engine harness.
