yep possible to do it with parts from a 4x4 wagon.

from the donor car;
gearbox with shifter linkages
tailshaft
rear subframe with hubs, driveshafts and diff (same ratio diff as the gearbox)

depending on the specific model of donor car you might have to change front inner CV cups to suit the stub axel spline (23 or 25 spine varieties).

should all just bolt straight in, very easy. Probably a few other bits you might need but easy to tell if you get a donor vehicle.

awesome, thanks! im going to look at a 92 l series thats advertised for wrecking (blown ring supposedly) tomorrow nite so if most of the cars in decent shape ill grab it and throw the 4wd drive onto mine.

Can pretty well guarantee that it won't be full time 4wd/AWD, it will be part time 4wd, meaning when on the road you have to use 2wd, the same as you have now.

There are AWD boxes available that are a similar conversion but they're much rarer and generally carry a much steeper price tag.

yeh discovered that the other day when asking about the awd conversions, a bit nasty...i think i can cope with part time :) its mainly for when i want to go down onto the beach in it and later down the track when i take it around oz.
