anyone with a brumby or l series fitted a handbrake on the rear wheels?

would it be easier to convert the rear brakes to incorporate a handbrake or just add a hydraulic handbrake to the rear?

i was thinking about a push type hydraulic handbrake mounted on the passengers side floor near the transmission tunnel with a long lever that you could reach from the drivers seat?

whats the application? something other than stopping the car rolling away when you leave it parked on a hill? If not, just leave it as fronts.

I believe there is some model of nissan which has the same rear brake caliper as L series but with a connection for handbrake cable...but you'd have to upgrade to rear discs at a minimum. But you can swap the caliper.

Otherwise consider the Crossbred hub conversion kit, this converts you to the Liberty rear handbrake setup.

I've found the front disc hand brake on my L the most effective hand brake of all the cars I've had myself - even my girlfriend's VT commodore's hand brake isn't as good as the L's cos it utalises a drum brake in the hub of the rear disc brake...

As andrew T has mentioned - either get the L rear disc brake setup and use a nissan rear caliper with the handbrake application or upgrade to the Crossbred performance.

Personally I don't see why a rear hand brake is necessary unless you want to do hand brake slides...
