Mentioned earlier on that I wanted to change my Ea82 to a turbo engine, so I went out and bought an Ej20 turbo, what do you think about it?

Roughly what’s the hp of this Ej20 engine and details like what year etc?

Looks like your last engine had some rather serious issues also is that a shifter lock on there I see I haven't seen one of those in years!

Hehehe yes she had some probs so this tym i didnt want to fix it, went out and got the Ej20. Yes thats a gear lock in this part of the world we need it hehe

Also just curious are you going to try and track down a front crossmember that already has the turbo pipe notched out to make things easier!

Hvnt looked into that yet, what im worried bout is the wiring any idea how many sensors are there in an ej20?

Not sure, but I think your gonna have trouble fitting the DOHC motor between the "chassis rails" in your EA82 car.
Wire isn't too hard, if you have the original harness and ecu that is. Just cut out the wires that don't go to the engine or things like tacho, vss, gearbox, and other gauges.

Incorrect. Lesson 1 in Subaru Conversions - All EJ quad cam motors fit absolutely fine into an EA82 L series. Zero chassis rail modifications required, lift kit or not. It's the older MY series you are thinking of Phizinza....Brumby's etc.

You're gonna have to either modify your engine crossmember or swap it for one from a turbo L series (RX Turbo or Vortex Turbo) so you can clear the turbo exhaust pipes. The EJ20 engine should be about 160kw at the flywheel, although might be more, that looks like one from a WRX.

Yes it is from a WRX, I got the ECU, harness and airflow and O2 sensor but my exhaust system has 2 holes, one for the O2 sensor and the other hole I don’t know.

Ill modify the exhaust and may be the crossmember, main thing is to get the engine in the car, the engineers are working on the flywheel and the adapter plate said ill get it by tomorrow, can’t wait to get it.

No luckier than you. You can buy the adapter just like anyone else. There is one for sale in the new classifieds section right now.

Why don't you want to use the WRX constant 4WD transmission that was on your engine?

Well i live in Nairobi Kenya and shipping will cost alot plus will take alot of time to get here.

I did not get an EJ Trans with the Motor, thats why i used the EA Trans but im still hunting for the EJ Trans, Infact i was lucky to get the EJ motor.

Well i guess Tex was right, i need to get the crossmember cut so the turbo pipe goes in and the engine mounts get in place, will the steering rack fix in its place properly becoz it looks like the space is very limited between the rack and turbo pipe?

It'll fit fine mate.

This is what you'll need to do for your up pipe to fit the engine into the L's engine bay. You'll probabily have to slot the engine mount holes to get the EJ mounts to fit properly.

Thanks big time helped a lot. I cut the crossmember the turbo pipe, engine mounts, steering rack fitted well.

I have another major major prob the wiring. If you can check out the pics at http://www.photobucket.com/amksti and tell me if that’s the correct ECU for the engine I have and if not which is the correct ECU? How many sockets, model number? What color are the sockets? Can I get the wiring diagrams for it to? (The motor is an EJ20 single turbo that’s all I know don’t know if it’s a EJ20G or EJ20K…)

I went out to look for the correct ECU, i found an engine exactly like mine using a V9 ECU, was told the ECU i was given was for a twin turbo, can i get the wiring diagram for the V9 type Ecu? and what is the normal ECU model used in these types of engines?
