So i am wanting to put Lseries Control Arms into my wagon, (shocking camber and caster problems right now)

i know people use the XD/E/F Radius Rods...BUT i haven't seen how you mod them to go in, which is what i am wanting to know at this moment

theres a fair few people who have done this so hopefully someone shall tell me.

MY STI -
The L series control arms will bolt up to the MY crossmember.
Either standard radius rod will be to short, I used ford XD/E/F radius rods.
They will need to be forged to get the flat end to bolt to the control arm.

A mate and I did a home job of this, vacuum cleaner in revese to get the pot belly roaring, Some large chunk of iron acting as an anvil, and some old oil to quench the rod in. Hardly scientific, but they haven't broken/bent yet.

XD/XE/XF radius rods flatened out on the front to allow the hole to be drilled out and bolted to the L control arm

Im guessing by the Pics that you actually used Modified Lseries/MY control arms though Matt

No mine are standard L Series Arms. However mine does have adjustable Camber. Also talk to "Cameron" on the boards he makes some using the old radius rods some tube and a lathe.

Cameron hasn't been active for Awhile, it seems.

And also can anyone tell me the Length and Dimensions of the Falcon Radius Rods??

was checking out a car today which had some nice ones on it which may or may not be suitable.
they are only 55cm long though, doesnt seem liek long enough.

yes you can use xf radius rods i used them on one of my early my's wagon i cut most of the rod before the bend off and used an oxy to heat the suckers and bashed a flat in them, the trick is to get them wide enough to drill the holes for the bolts but not too thin they can crack one of mine did but i rewelded it and had no further probs

I done this a while back. I reckon just start from scratch on your radius rods.. I have to cut, grind, and thread the Falcon rods so I didn't have stupid caster and so they bolted on. Next time I'll just make something. Although the Falcon rods are much thicker then standard and I never bent another after putting them in.

so the radius rod still actually needs that bend there?

Phiz. Problem for me would be i dont have the machinery or skills to be starting them from Scratch.

i wont exactly know what shape and length im looking at needing before i actually have an Lseries control arm mounted on my car either.

i would also like to increase thickness with some new ones to.


XF rods do sound like the way to go, its been done a fair bit already. im sure i could pull some favors with some welders i know to get them to Oxy them up for me.

i customized MY ones... hit some nice potholes at bout 130kms on rough dirt tracks and had no probs so far... AND ADJUSTABLE TOO

yer urs are looking pretty kool.

hard to see exactly what has been done.


Also got a lead today on some CUstom made ones which ill wait to here about first off.
those would do me nicely depending exactly how they are going to be made.
