ea 71 twin carbs on ea 81

Hi, I am pretty new to subarus. I have recently been offered twin carbs from an ea71 to put on my 81. As far as I can tell, these are a direct bolt on. However, I have also been oferred a pair of heads that to me are from an unknown model. They apparently have different cams (lift and duration) and the heads have been worked. The only clue to their origin (the heads) is that the exhaust and intake cams are on opposite sides to the ea81. At least this is what I am told.
Does anyone know if this rings true or possibly know what heads these may be?
I would appreciate any help or suggestions.
Thanks.

Manifold won't fit, EA71 is narrower port to port (from one head to the other) than EA81.
Normally aspirated heads have in,ex,ex,in.
EA81T and dual port heads have ex,in,in,ex.

I'd be grabbing those heads if you can, the cam can be ground to what ever you want, but the heads are the elusive part to get. They are a "gold" piece to have if your doing up an EA81.

Thanks guys for your prompt replies. This is a new learning curve for me, my previous experience lies with other fours. I have to say though, I love my sooby.
Any other advice is welcome. Thanks.

The cam has to match the valve layout, can't use normal cam with the heads you have been offered.

The cams are provided with the heads. Do I bolt these on with the standard block and pistons? My research tells me that these are the rally heads and I assume that higher compression pistons may have been used with these. Any comments?? Thanks.

Cams? Are we talking EA82 SOHC, not EA81 OHV?

Arc1, have you found any more info?
I have a plan of making a twin carb manifold for an EA81 from two stock manifolds, a bit of cutting and welding etc.
