The biggest problem with my rad is the distance between the face of the core & the edge of the end tank.
My rad is a copy of the twin core design used frequently for L series, but the longer EJ motor has wrecked this.
This is now of no use, so if someone wants a great L radiator to use with their EA motor, I'll be selling it.

Andrew, sorry to be a real pain, but could you hurry up with the pics please.
The reason is that I know a group of guys who are driving over to here in the last week of September (ie free or beer freight) if I get you to get another copy made up of yours. That only leaves 2 weeks in the meantime.

Thanks mate.:)

Can people give me opinions on this idea from left field.
Seeing as I've only got a 35-50mm gap between the rad & engine pulleys, a mate came up with this idea.

Instead of fitting the fans behind the rad & the intercooler rad in front, how about swapping them?
ie fit the intercooler rad behind the radiator & then fit twin fans on the front of the whole setup.

What would this do to the cooling of the intercooler rad? What it cause it to get too hot (I'd be getting a custom one made that would be almost the size of the rad), or
I'd get the intercooler rad in between the A/C condenser & then move the rad backwards slightly.

My main concern is that the intercooler is no longer at the front getting the coldest air.

only way to do it easily would be to move the IC back to where it was. that would free up a LOT of space. in my case the legacy item clears easily with everything in original positions.

if you look at a TD patrol setup they have a cooling fan UNDER the IC. same could apply to your setup if it was needed.

I haven't moved the intercooler from where it was, so how can I move it back?:???:
Don't forget, I'm running the Gen 1 Lib water-air setup, and quite frankly think the top mount interheater is a bad idea.

TD runs way cooler than petrol, like by a couple of hundred degrees because there's no introduced combustion. How many petrol cars run 12psi boost stock like my Caldina does with no intercooler at all?

Mate of mine did that (moved intercooler rad to the engine side) and had fans on the front side. This didn't work very well at all, temps were too high. So he bought two 12" Davies Craig fans and put them between the radiator and the engine and moved the intercooler back out to the front of the car. (same as what I've done).
I'll take some photos when I can but they're aren't going to reveal some huge secret. You just need to mount the radiator as far forward in the car as possible until theres enough room for the fans.

I am still only running 1 fan at the moment (havnt got round to mounting the second but it definitely fits). Car has no cooling issues at all except at slow speed in boggy sand. Just needs the second one running and all will be sweet.

Yeah actually you're right about that. I have remove the air con for the moment. Undoubtedly it will heat up more with air con running. I will probably need to put a third thermo fan on the front side of the car to help with that.
That being said, it might run cold enough with the second fan running - havn't had it running yet so I don't know.
