Hey Paul,
I've had to set up a new account as I forgot my old log in details/password.
Looks like an interesting project you've got on the boil there eh! You WA people can get away with just about anything over there. Unfortunately the nanny state of Victoria makes it quite prohibitive to do the sort of mods you're planning.
Should be one well capable car.
I had my L series nicked a bit over a month ago by some junkie, but got it back 3 weeks later, undamaged except for lock and barrel.
If you end up making a similar rear bar to mine, I can tell you that the pins for the R clips to hold in the swing arms are superfluous as the the latches I used have never come off, even on some rougher roads like Sky Trek.
All the best and look forward to seeing the car come together.
Chris

Thanks Chris and yeah I saw that about your L. Good to hear it was returned without too much damage. I'm still building that rear carrier but this engine swap has taking over my time. I will get back into it as I have all the parts. Thanks also for that info in those pins, it's great to hear that they still work.

Thanks John and well spotted :) It does need the battery and the alternator wiring sorted but I have most of the ECU stuff in now, so I'm getting really excited.

Can tell you it works well Gannon.. I mounted the ECU today (pics to follow) and it all looks factory in there :)

If you need a EA case, talk to KPM Inc (aka Guyph) he should have a dodgy one lying around

Sure...

You can sell him a good one but he only needs one for the mounting plate.

BTW Gannon.. Was your car an EFI model? Cause I don't think the carby model has the mounting spot like the EFIs

Yeah its a genuine RX turbo. I think my car is now either 3rd or 4th generation AUSubaru member owned. I bought it of Nev, but before that it had a 2" lift, bullbar and star alloy mags.

If I cant find a case, I'll have to drop down to the engineering supples and get some steel sheet to make one from

I'd use your RX case because it can be sold (as is cause most likely the purchaser will have a U/S one but the case is good) or converted back to standard if or whenever needed.

Well a massive update today :o

Dave (aka Super Auto Sparkie Subarino) has come to the rescue again. Today and when I say today, it started at 9am and finished at 10pm but happy to report that the Offroader is alive... YAY !!

I must give Dave a HUGE THANKS for his effort. I'm sure he hates it when Guyph or I call cause he knews he's going to lose more hair everytime he comes down.

After having troubles starting the car because as we dicovered later, that the donor engine and wiring was from the Aussie version with the immobilizer key system intergrated into the ECU, so I phone call to my good friend at the parts shop and hello one Apexi Power FC, tuned and plug and play in to the Offroader.. so we thought (and told) :( We tried just about every sensor, plug, lead, etc that was spare and the car didn't want to fire. So lucky for smart phones and internet, and we where getting somewhere.. but still no luck.

Back to the net.. and Dave noticed something really strange.. some of the wiring had to be swapped around :( lucky he had brought his little tablet (all loaded with wiring goodies) and off he went changing this and that, whilst I stood back and just kept feeding him soft drinks and food.. then we connected the #1 spark plug lead, removed and spare plug/lead added to watch for spark.. then out of nowhere... VAROOOOOOOOMMMM, she was alive .. bloody genius.. his blood is worth bottling.

But we noticed the engine would only run for 3 or 4 seconds then die, lots of fuel smoke pouring out of the dump pipe. Tried multiple things.. still no running for more than 5 seconds. All signs showed a dead AFM, so big thanks to Taza for bringing a spare one (even if it was stollen of a mate whilst he was at the pub) and once fitted the engine ran like a dream.

Can't be more happier.. it seems like I should be able to bring her to SA.
