PS, how did you make the rear bar, i'm after details of how it mounts to the body work (hope your not just using the old bumper mounting holes alone).

I'm not sure how else you could mount a bumper...so yes it is.Its a peice of 1 1/2"x3" square tube with brackets that go int the original inserts and mount using the original bolts, from my experience these mounting points are far stronger than they need to be if the car isnt totally rusted out.

I've been thinking of using some box (prob rectangular in shape) steel that fits snuggly into the chassis rail, drill the holes (4 would do easily), take the steel back out, drill out the holes a little bigger and insert a piece of steel pipe to be welded in place (stops any crushing). Then make up 4 plates of steel that correspond to the holes in the chassis rail (one plate to each side of the chassis rail). Then bolt it all back in.

This way you have 4 bolts on each side of the car, with 4 bolts effectively clamping the chassis rail from both sides, as opposed to the old bumper bolts only clamping the inside of the bumper arm to the chassis rail.

These are only thoughts at the moment, i'm yet to fullly investigate the practicality of such a set up.

Cheers

Bit off topic...If you want extra strength add a couple of extra bars down to the tie points under the car like hereImage .Your chassis rail ideas a good one but the inside bolt holes are recessed in the tool box area. Also adding a brace inside the tool box[5mm angle] and bolting thru with crush tube from outside along the length of the bar will help.Back to the EA mini monster truck.......
