Clutch cable

Post by 85wrx » Fri Mar 09, 2007 7:08 am

What is the best clutch cable setup to use when fitting an EJ AWD box into MY subaru? The standard MY cable or the EJ cable.

It seems as this is going to bit of an issue. I have just tried to fit using both cables and neither seems to be long enough. Surely someone out there has completed a similar conversion an can pass on some of there wisdom as to how they got around this.

Is there any other subaru that has a longer cable that would suit an EJ20 N/A with AWD conversion?

Sorry I can't offer any real help on this one, all my EJ gearbox conversion knowledge is with hydraulic clutches.

I know of a place in Perth that makes custom flexible drive cables including clutch and accelerator cables. Maybe you can find a place that does similar work closer to you.

Failing that, you could try and make something yourself using bicycle cables??

Maybe give Oversteer a PM. He was running a cable operated AWD gearbox in his old L series. Not sure which cable he was using or wether its different in an L series compaired to an MY but he might have used a custom one...

'L' series cable is the one to use. You will have to modify the pedal kit to take the 'L' cable.

Thanks for the replies. The L Series is definately the way to go.
