Custom air box.

Post by SuBaRiNo » Thu Aug 31, 2006 10:10 pm

Has anyone made a custom air box before or seen a well designed one.

I want to make one for my hatch to plumb the snorkel into. I have a few ideas but i wanted to see what others can come up with.

It needs to...

1. Be small
2. House a filter or pod filter
3. Be easy opening for servicing filter
4. Be air tight/water tight
5. Look very neat.

Any ideas out there?

I used a forklift filter in the old My wagon, but it wasn't what you'd call small :P

big round canister style filter off the early pajero's works well. They are huge so they flow well, and the filters are cheap and easy to get..

doesnt your snorkel hook up to one of thse stinky?

yeah it kinda looked like one of those, I think it was originally off a forklift though.

I am almost 100% sure its pajero as camo's Ex is still driving the pajero he got the idea from

My old man had a 88 pajero that had the same style filter canister also.

i made a custom fibreglass enclosure for my pod on the other soob, which hooked up to a cold air intake. just made the design in cardboard then covered it in layers of fibreglass. wasnt airtight at all tho. and didnt really work too well. but worth a shot if ur desperate.

yeah i can fibre glass and all the rest of it... if i can figure out a sure way of being able to seal it and open it to service the filter then that might be a good option.
