EJ22 aircon compressor for Endless air??
EJ22 aircon compressor for Endless air??
Anyone seen an ej aircon compressor set up for endless air??
My understanding is that if it's done correctly and with a use of a tank you can opperate air tools with it.
I have also heard that some aircon compressors are oil lubbed and oil spits out of the air output of some aircon compressors. Is an ej22 one like this??
Anyone know anything about it or have done it??

I can't speak for an EJ pump but I've seen it done to an EA one. When I say "done" this was basically just that the guy had hooked a hose to the outlet of the compressor and that was it. Worked well by all accounts!
Definitely the use of a pre-set pressure valve and a tank (an old Scuba tank would be ideal) would be the go!

can you explain more about it - why would he do that?mattims wrote:my mate just bought an lseries (ea82) that has this setup with the standard aircon pump hooked up to a tank in the floor compartment of the boot. seems to work pretty well.

AP is your question... why someone would have a air tank in there car??
If yes... then for a few reasons... mainly so far i have found being able to use an air blower at high PSI to force beach sand out of the car and out of tyre beads awesome... also if your tyre was to roll off the rim and u require a lot of air quickly to put it back on then tank can supply that. Lastly there is something mighty cool about being able to inflate your tryres faster than then inflaters at service stations.

My first compressor was an old Icecream truck refrigeration unit - which obviously recirculated refrigerant. - they do need luberication but - I had a vertical output, with a very small bleed off at the base ( with a 1 way valve) that returned any excess oil to the inlet side, thus any oil recirculated. gravity still works under pressure. It is only interupted by flow - ie: when there is air ''racing" into the tank, oil will still go along the line with the air. The start, being vertical , and having a kind of oil trap, still works, as the oil just runs back down the line into the trap.
You will still need some sort of decompression valve for the end of line - as in a std compressor, to take the air pressure off the compressor - or it will never start up with load on it.

Just to let u guys know since this is an old thread... i now have done this in my car with an inline oiler and oil/air seperator so all is good... just got some wiring to do and she is complete. Compressor also needed to be dismatled and internally greased. There is no way the EJ compressors will do this by solely changing the bearings.
