Willie's Single Hitachi EA81 re jet
So I finnally dug up my notes from when I re jetted the Hitachi.
I used a Hitach that I think was out of a 2 litre Toyota for the jets, I only changed the jets if they were bigger out of the unknown carb.
Happy to race for pinkslips any N/A Weber EA Subaru.
Stock EA81 Hitachi was:
Primary main jet 110
Secondary main jet 140
Primary main air bleed jet 70
Secondary main air bleed jet 80
Primary slow jet 85
Secondary slow jet 42
Primary slow air bleed jet 160
slow air bleed air bleed jet 80
After re jetting it was:
Primary main jet 112
Secondary main jet 156
Primary main air bleed jet 70
Secondary main air bleed jet 100
Primary slow jet 85
Secondary slow jet 100
Primary slow air bleed jet 160
slow air bleed air bleed jet 80

Not sure if that would be a fair race Willy; how much does that MK I Leone weigh exactly?
So what kind of fuel mileage do you get out of this setup? Does it use much more than with stock jets?

It's now in the 83 Hardtop, it weighs 957kg compared to the 1072kg of a 4wd wagon and 1018kg of a Brumby.Silverbullet wrote:Not sure if that would be a fair race Willy; how much does that MK I Leone weigh exactly?
I lost about 40kms from a tank.Silverbullet wrote:So what kind of fuel mileage do you get out of this setup? Does it use much more than with stock jets?
I went to the Twins searching for more power, The Twins seem a bit better up in the top end but a bit slower off the mark. Fuel economy is the best with the twins, get 620kms from 40 litressteptoe wrote:must be something wrong with it coz he went to twins:evil:
Now have another twin set I bought dirt cheap off facebook, gonna re jet them and do a few other little tricks before putting them in a Fugly

I'm going to have to download that manual!
And thinking about this I've got a carb off an '80 something Corona which is the same petrol engine as the Diahatsu scat - so I'm going to dig that up and see what I can come up with
I haven't played with carbs in years, and even with that it was never anything like this!
Cheers

I had a Daihatsu Scat, it was Diesel. I once made the mistake of Googling Daihatsu Scat.......El_Freddo wrote:I'm going to have to download that manual!

We called my Diesel Scat "The Tractor"El_Freddo wrote:My brother has two Scat Diesels - one registered now with a 5 speed turbo setup and the other in pieces...
It's got loads of character - and there's a thread on it here somewhere!

I looked at the EA82 jet sizes in the workshop manual and they are bigger. I haven't tried them yet, but I'm sure with a bigger exhaust and different air filter they'd make a big difference. I am currently looking at rejetting and or bigger carbs on my spare twin set.... Stay tuned.
