1998 Gen2 seats into 1984 MY wagon

Been wanting to upgrade the seats in the wagon for a while now and finaly got the oppurtunity when I replaced the seats in my ge2 Liberty.

Started with the passenger seat and to my delight the rails on the liberty seat were bolted on. The MY seat rails are also bolted on so things were looking good. So took the rails of the My seat and put them on the Liberty seat.

The my rails bolted to the front holes on the liberty seat but I had to drill new holes to bolt the rear of the rails into.

I then sat the seat into the car. The side nearest the transmisson tunnel fitted perfectly. The side nearest the door not so good.

So I just re drilled some holes to suit,

The drivers side was to so easy as the rials were attached differently due to the height adjustment

The MY seat rail bolted easily to this. I had to grind off the rear of the liberty rail to modify it to suit the MY rail.

I was then able to mount the MY seat rail in the same way I did on the passenger seat. I then installed it into the MY wagon in the same way that I did on the passenger side.

The other mods I needed to do were the plastic door step trims

I also had to trim a small piece of metal off the door side of the passenger seat, and some plastic trim on the seat as it was catching as you slide the seat back

they are comfortable seats, i have the same trim as yours in my 96 liberty.
The seats looks wider than MY is that right? or just the rails?

I'm starting to regret not grabbing the seats outta that foz at centre road wreckers - they came with a gucci little arm rest too. I love those things and would LOVE to have a much more comfortable front seat as you do now Richard!

Baz's seat with lumber support isn't much better - it was for 5 minutes though!

Damn foz seats, the just seamed like too much effort at the time

Good stuff Subaruby, can't wait to sit in it... Now that you have an "EJ part" in your subi, when's the real EJ conversion coming???

I have a GT foz pilot seat in my lib. the armrest is great for long drives, bu the seats do sit very high. I doubt they would fit well in an L

Foz seats in my MV / Brumby (piccys on the 'brumby front cut' thread).
Yes they sit maybe 15 - 20mm higher than original Brumby seats but seems to improve driving position for me. (I am 5' 10'')
Arm rest is a major bonus ( somtimes I spread my arm across both of them!)
Didn't have to loose the sill cover/tray thingy with my mount, just a small 'can't see it' nick in the tray to get the seat/rail support in the right place.
Used the original brumby seat floor fixings.

Deffo worth the effort can email images of my mount to anyone if thats a help.

Some impreza seats that I thought would fit in the "my" wagon, but did not fit and would have required work with a welder which I dont have.
So I thought I would try them in the liberty and they were a straight bolt in

Yep seats are definitely wider but still fit ok. just a little tight on the passenger seat near the seatbelt retractor

Dont really have any other pics, the liberty seat rails come off with 4 bolts. Once the rails were off I then had to grind off the bracket from the seat rail. It then just bolted the bracket back to the liberty seat.
I could then just bolt the "my" rails to the seat, only needing to re drill 2 new holes.
By doing this I did manage to keep the height adjustment

I have G1 Lib seats in my brumby, but the seatback is a bit too thick to get the seat back far enough for me (I'm 6' 2"), so i'll have to try the spare Foz seats i have.

The lib seats required cutting on the drivers with the height adjust, and adapter plates to get the rails the right distance apart. I also had to trim the side plastic so it would slide.

Good spot to say do not follow me down the MAZ626 seats path. They are a lot of work to remove the wider sliders. The seat belt stalk fixes to seat rather than floor so seat sides are more robust again. Spent a few hours grinding and drilling out rivets and adjuster bump stops today to remove both rails from the last seat.

Yes they are But the brumby is different to the L series - some people get this confused at times as the brumby "MY chassis" ran up until '92.

Alright awesome because the seats in my brumby have collapsed springs and id like to replace them without needing to weld haha.
