Reinforced MY pedal box .....

Post by steptoe » Tue Apr 03, 2012 9:13 pm

Got that squeak going on down at the clutch pedal and the box is flexing ...next thing the box will fatigue and leave me up the creek, so pulled out of shed a pedal box I reinforced years ago, been in service in other ute then came out for the five speed converted pedal box which came with less clutch pedal stress, still in service seven years later :)

Working on pic now....

You get a squeak in your MY, MV or Brumby clutch pedal , reckon this will fix it if grease don't

absolutely nothing my metalwork teacher would be proud of - thank Fuji he ain't marking my work here !! He'd make me write out his "Gospel of James" 100 times :(

If you read this and have a good old squeak from the clutch pedal - take note.... I pulled the squeak out of the ute today in a few simple steps and found daylight peaking between what looks like a factory stick weld and the side wall of the box but may be a repair done ex factory as the bracket is also spot welded, and the replacing set does not have stick weld in same spot - just mine as seen above.

Also used lithium based grease on all the pivot points and fitted a brake pedal to booster style pin with its plastic safety catch and easy to remove spring pin for convenience in changing clutch cable at a later date. The factory clip used is small , thin and dark making it a hard one to remove when head is up in the foot well.

Test drive - happy days :D

A tip to remove the pedal box is also drop the column from the two mounting bolts below speedo
