custom bash plates?
custom bash plates?
can anyone tell me where i can get a bash plate made up for the front of my L in the perth area?
In your garage at home with some bit of metal you found somewhere is the best bet.
(Unless you want to pay more than your car is worth).
I good basis is a standard factory L series bash plate - modify it if needed.

Lifted with the stock EA82? 2 inch lift: cut slots to the holes that mount under the engine crossmember. Then get a half inch wide piece of plate steel and weld it across the back end of the bash plate. This should allow you to bolt up the factory bash plate to the lift L series.
If you've got an EJ its another story as the sump is deeper... Here's a pic of my modified factory bash plate to fit around the EJ sump. Not the greatest as this pic wasn't taken for the bash plate
Same principle though, just more work involved with cutting and bending in the centre to get around the sump safely. The rear mounts are extended out about 1 or 2 inches with the use of some scrap box section I found. Anyway, here's the pic:

I would like to also cover the exhaust on each side of the engine but this will have to come later when I work something out... and find some time!
Cheers

If you're after a bash plate like Alex's one above I'd wait until you have the EJ in, otherwise you'll be modifying the one for the EA - unless you have it made up for a mate's lifted L with an EJ already installed, that way you'll know it clears the sump and extractors of the EJ once you drop it in. You should get on to that as well, the EJ is a great upgrade to the L series!
They're a great tyre!

I think they were wild conqueror super trippers, but I think they're no longer in productionLuke82 wrote:what type of tyres are you running and where did you get them from?
