cut down EA mpfi wiring

Post by spike » Fri Nov 26, 2010 10:47 am

As the title says
Has anyone done it?
Is it much different from an Ej just find the right wires and shorten them
Im not really sure what the EA computer runs with the car but when we pulled it the loom was huge
Ea 82 mpfi is to go into a sportswagon, will have a/c p/s and the like but wont run power windows or mirrors if that patters

The power windows and mirrors are literally separate looms - power windows more so than the mirrors.

I haven't cut down an EA loom, but I would say that anything that comes from the engine will be retained, then trace all other wires from the ECU to their relays and work out what they do.

Two other options:

1) replace entire loom with that from an EA MPFI subi - I've done this, not really difficult, just a little painstaking to pull the original then replace with the new.

2) cut to the chase and strip down an EJ engine loom, lay this over the standard loom, fit the EJ and be done with it :D

All the best with it - this job is not impossible to do but realistically the EJ is about the same effort with much better results.

Cheers
