Oversize A/C compressor pulley?

Post by Joel » Mon Oct 25, 2010 1:25 pm

I scored a brand new A/C compressor for pocket change, it's new in the box and never fitted cos it had this huge oversize pulley which didn't clear the tensioner

I just swapped over the pulley and clutch setup from one of my old original EJ22 compressors but was just curious to see if anyone else has seen one this size fitted to anything??

The compressor itself was pretty much identical, just had newer model plugs

i dont know why your saying they look pretty much the same, look quite different to me

its a denso, could be off anything really.

on a hijack im planning on putting a smaller pulley onto the L series, will need more torque to spin but will compress more and as such cool the interior better, in theory.

Its just cos that ones all shiny and new and the electrical plugs are different.
Physically theyre both the same, EJ22 suction and discharge connections and mounting points.

Its a factory subaru/nippon denso replacement for a Liberty just didn't fit cos of the pulley

Take it from a fridgy of many years and son of someone who was one for over 30 years, you cant make an a/c work better by spinning the compressor faster, and also you need to go smaller with the pulley, not bigger to do that anyway
