Hybrid Gearbox Questions

Post by lincolnthemod » Sun Dec 27, 2009 4:51 pm

Hey all,

I am looking to do an engine conversion, EJ22 into 84 MY series Brumby, the aim is to have a speed (more so acceleration) car yet be able to go offroading as well.
My question is what is involved in making a hybrid AWD D/R box which will handle the increased power and is this possible to do yourself?
I know that EJ gearbox internals will fit into EA Box.

All help is appreciated.

I think you're better off sticking with EJ box behind EA engine that way you wont need an adapter.
So in a way you want a "stronger" box? with 1.59:1 low range? You're better off getting gen 1 liberty box and EA82 low range and put it in EJ box. Pretty mach the gearsets will be able to handle behind EJ22 anyway, even Ej25.
You cannot use main shaft from WRX as its complete shaft, whereabouts dualrange as additional shafts.
Cheers
