Liberty conversion > Legacy turbo now into off road beast
Guys is the any links with regards to fitting a legacy turbo motor from a front cut into a 1991 liberty 4x4 wagon .( sorted )
I am looking at doing this now but would like some how to do it points please ( now going at it hard )
I made my mind up to do the following changes to my wifes car > just dont tell her its all for me & the boy ( ! )
I doing the ej20T conversion now , dash out ect low K import going in .
at the same time I making my 75mm body lift kit and fitting adjustable coil overs all round I am making from bits and bobs I have laying about .
I have under way a skid plate for the front as to keep the sump and front diff away front rocks , this will have a bar that attaches to the tow points on the front so it can take a direct hit and not come up into the engine bay .
I am making a rear dif skid plate as well , fom a old gas bottle .
I tossed the stock exsorst system due it was rusted out & and making a 316 ss system from the turbo to the rear
I can only find at this time some 15 " wheels , so will look at what you guys may be running and go that way , need to be good for mud & sand ?
I have seen a few of the stock auto mounts snap , so have made a replacement unit from toyota shackel bushes & a section of hollow 4140 bar stock .
The rear arms I have welded a section of flat bar to fill in the C section , this looks like a weak point to me .
looking at some ally A arms for the front as to get some weight off the front of the car .
My rear bumber is going to get the chop and have a swing out jerry can holder comming out of it > dont like fuel in the car & seem to do this to most of my rides .
fitting a rear cargo barrier , cut down ford unit I found some place , that looked like it could live again one day .
I have not seen a snorkel fitted to a subaru to date , so have that under way as well from PVC class 18 pressure pipe , will look like a factory fitment .
any help would be great , cheers seagull

look in the FAQ section of http://www.rslibertyclub.org
should be relatively easy... dropping in the crossmember and the engine should only take a couple of hours... electrical stuff could be troublesome but nothing to worry too much about... just start working and handle the problems when they come up... planing ahead might scare you away from the project!!!

well I well into the 75mm lift now , have the rear just about done .I have filled in the rear arm with 25x3 flat bar for the time being & will fab my own arms up at a later date .These will have rose joints to allow more wheel travel & adjustment .
I am still looking for some forster steel rims with 45mm off set , but this is getting very hard to find a set .
I may have to just go with 15x6 RS liberty rims ?? guys what do you think
with these rims off set going to be ok ?
I will have the motor & gear box in over the next few days , wiring fitted and awating my tail shaft to arrive .
Fabing the skid plate up out of 4mm ally plate , to stop the motor sump & auto pan getting hit .Then fab the snorkel up out of 50mm class 18 pvc pipe .

well my lift its now all done , need to tighten some bolts
got some 215 x 70 r16 mud & snow tyres on 06 forester rims
made a cargo barier from a ford eb unit I found on the side of the road , need to cut it & weld some tabs on but it looks factory .
made the full ally bash plate for the motor & auto
fitting my turbo timer , two coolers to the auto trans
Internal roll bar going in when I go and collect it
WRX front seats should be here soon with 5 point belts
I am getting a second fuel cell made for the rear it will take place of the wheel well as I going to cut that out & make it flat .
I am making a swing out wheel carier for the back as well
my main concern is the strut tops , so Iam getting poly units made now all round .
a few gauges , low water allarm , oil busser , some driving lights , recovery points and blow some paint over it .
then test drive it
built to go further than any LIBERTY has done before ( ! )
