flares
Hey guys, after weeks of trying to join im finally a member. Now with the questions! I have a 88 brumby stock as, in great condition. Im soon getting a byb lift and some big fat tyres. What are my options for flared guards? Does anyone know where to get those molded [torana type] flares? Cheers

Hey Ramjet.
You won't find any off-the-shelf moulded flares for a Subaru so don't waste your time looking. Custom made or modify some off something else are your only options. Some people use the rubber Flexi Flares to stay legal.
You may find that after you put your new wheels & tyres on that you don't even need flares. If you use a rim with the factory offset you definately won't.
What rims & tyres are you planning to use?

I know we've seen it before but.....
You should get flares like this!

Looks like they're made to fit from an F150 or dodge ram or somthin. Looks sick.
I wonder if you could use gaurds off an older patrol or pajero or somthin like that?

Those are 1986 Toyota Hi-lux flares from Bushwhacker. Can't remember why I know that but I did the research you are doing and I think there is something on the owner's website. I've been looking at Suzuki Jimny flares cos the arches are a similar shape to a brat and Jimny's are mega popular over here so there are lots of aftermarket parts.

Thanks guys, that is what i was looking at. I think brumbys looks cool with those fat flares. guess ill look around for a cheap set and see if i can retro-fit them.
Brumbyrunner: i dont know what wheels or rims ill be useing. depends on what i can get around my area i suppose. but im thinking six stud conversion.
By the way does anyone know if the six stud conversion is legal in QLD?

I say if your going to be doing some serious 4x4'in then go the rubber flares. If you rub up against any trees or rocks they should just bend back into shape. If its just for looks then definately go some big fat plastic flares. They look pretty awesome. but they dont go so well up against rocks.
