EJ20G boost levels

Post by Alex » Tue Sep 30, 2008 7:16 pm

hey all,

just curious here.

What is the stock JDM EJ20G boost level?

And what sort of level can i go up to safely for everyday driving?

Also, at what level is boost cut?

Im looking to wind a tad more boost into the wagon.

Im obviously going to install a boost gauge also. I have a bleed valve type boost controller here. Will this work ok? (bar the obvious spiking etc)

thanks heaps

nah factory is not heaps :) it's only heaps in the eye's of people driving non-turbo cars. I find no matter what car I'm driving after a little while I always want more power!

My Ej20 G has run up to 21 psi boost on very special occasions on avgas with a vf 22 ihi turbo
It hauls on this level let me you

Motor is standard part from turbo, intake too turbo 3 inch dump to tip, ecu and dual pressure boost controler.

As a daily thing it runs a much more seddate 14psi/7 psi

Mind you i am running a link ecu in mine
So many optioins not enough time or money:confused:

Dyno run is the only real safe way of finding out what your car likes, in your climate, with your mods and your choice of fuel.
There is only one thing you must do in your life. Everything else is a choice.

I think mine will do 8-10 psi normally, with the cut at around 15. This is with a JDM Legacy computer.

boost cut for the ej20g is not govend by a maxium pressure rather a maxium amount of air flow from the air flow meter
this being the case them boost cut defenders dont work
just to save people the trouble of getting one to find out it dosent work

vos chipped ecu is the go if u have a 16bit rs ecu
17pounds of the good stuff no speed limit
- 92 brumby, ej22, MT5AWD, lseries low range, centre diff lock, glf5 dash, 5 stud conversion
lifted 3" front 2" rear all rolling round on 27" khumo Kl71's
more in progress ie:adaptronic ecu and sc14 supercharger

link = too simple and basic, and not many tuners like using it....i had mny link tuned and it contributed to my motor blowing up.... autronics ftw :)

What about there latest ones g series (i think) etc they look nice but pricey

Link depends on what model link you are using also.

Heard that most tuners are steering toward autronics.

ok, here are my findings....

stock jap spec rs boost is 6-7psi.
wound her up to 12, spiking to 14 and the thing is astoundingly quicker. Then wound abit more into her so it was sitting level on 14psi, bullshit quick for a l-series haha.

Havent hit boost cut yet.
