EA81 ignition fuse

Here's one for ya lads.

Driving home today (day off) about 3pm, car cuts out on freeway, no ignition lights, roll to a stop.
Key in the run position, no lights or gauges.
Get towed home, ignition fuse blown, replace fuse, key on, two seconds later fuse blows, lights go out.

So a resistive ground? Yes, traced to fuel bowl vent solenoid 0.8 ohm, spare I had lying around on another carb - 20 ohms,
swapped it over, hooked everything back up, on the road again.

So, for the boys still running an Hitachi carb, be aware that if this happens to you,
take a look at the back of the carb for melted wire at the solenoid. ;)

The wire going to the solonoid can get pinched when the aircleaner is replaced or when you have been fiddling around the front of the carb and the insulating sheath peels back slightly burning the wire out. Had it happen to me once on a freeway miles from no where at night, luckily it was night as the sparks that caused the fuse to blow lead me straight to the problem.
