Touring wagon gauge cluster to a DL

I have just acquired a gauge cluster from a Touring Wagon that includes the tacho that my DL's dash doesn't. From what I've looked at, it should simply plug straight in and work. Are there any inconsistencies between the wiring from factory? The only difference I am after is the tacho of course and from what I can see, it looks like the loom comes pre-wired the same for all the cars, regardless of model. Both are L-series cars.

Unfortunately not

You will have to do a bit of wiring work as the plugs are not the same. Because the guages are in different places, so will be the wires.

Its been a while since ive done it, but if you are willing to do a bit of wiring, i can help you.

That'd be great. I've got a spare dash out of another DL so I've been looking at the connectors and circuitry just these last few minutes (now the kids are in bed). I should be able to cut the sockets off the spare DL cluster and use them to replace the sockets on the Touring Wagon cluster. Shouldn't take too long actually. Are the colours consistent? Do you have some pics or circuit diagrams?

I'll have a look for the diagrams

The wiring colours should be consistant, but they aren't always

you will also need to run a wire from the coil to the dash

More than half of the colours aren't consistent so I'll check them all out manually with a multimeter and some advice from my father - specialises in auto gauges.

Ok, finally getting around to having a look at that cluster now. No quicker way to work this out than to check those circuit diagrams... Suparoo... do you have those?

Would the colour wires from a leone to a brumby instrument cluster be the same?

I have actually found the adaper loom i made

its missing a few wires, but simply connect the pin number to the corresponding wire colour in your car

I will explain wire colours as follows.... -main colour-stripe colour-band colour (in most cases you can ignore the band colour)

On the black connector....
Pin 1 - Unkown
Pin 7 - Unkown
Pin 8 -Red-Red-Blue and also extend to Pin 4 of White connector
Pin 9 - Extend to Pin 5 of White connector
Pin10 - Green-Blue-Red
Pin11 -White-Blue-Yellow

White connector
Pin 1 -Black-Yellow-Red
Pin 2 -Green-Red-Red
Pin 3 - I think this goes to neg side of coil
Pin 4 - From Pin 8 of Black connector
Pin 5 - From Pin 9 of Black connector (you may need another wire here too)
Pin 6 -Black-White-Red
Pin 7 - Unknown
Pin 10 - Unknown
Pin 11 - Unknown
Pin 12-Black-Black-Red

I will work out what the others (unknown ones) do too
