Yup - and it involved some grinding/cutting. An absolute mongrel of a job - had wires going all over the car - even have my hatch as an actuator.

We grinded/cut - then we screwed the actuator in. Some of those remote pulling/pushing arms were at some crazy angles! We also used silastic on the body of the acutators/slave units to stop rattling.

They won't simply bolt in - and they tell you dont do the arms at weird angles. You have no choice really but mines been working well for over 6 months now.

The best way to do it would be to scrounge a wreckers for a set of GL central locking actuators. Very easy to fit, just clips and a few screws.

Touring Wagons also have central locking.

I mounted the motors on an aftermarket central locking kit on the diagonal that the hand controls run to the locking mechanism, there is enough room to mount them on all doors there

i mounted mine in a 92 L series without any griding/cutting. Only needed to drill 2 holes. I will get some pics for you if you want. Had to make some nicely bent bits of rod to actually connect to the lock but that was it.

I did not mount the actuator in line with a rod in the car as suggested by the kit instructions. I mointed it point basically straight up and down and hooked the rod directly onto the locking mechanism (there was a little look that looked like it was made for it). The actuator ended up being quite low in the door (about the level of the base of the window when fully down) and there was enough space in between the inner door frame and the window mechanism.

Let me know if you want some pics and ill pull the door skins off and show you what i did.

Hmm - there was no way we were going to get the kit I bought in without cuttings ours - Mine was a quality $35 effort.

Nah Jaycar is over here too. I guess there are just different sizes etc. I was being sarcastic about the "quality" bit. I think the brand name was something corny like "Steal mate"

and its a HELL of a lot easier to swap them over rather than doing the force it to fit idea. the switch the the drivers door is the only part that goes bad in them

done a few L series sedans that way. get the windows whilst you are at it.
