Hi guys, I have a 95 impreza that has a EJ16 in it. goes like a hunk of junk so want to put my EJ22 from 91 lib in it. Is the loom the same for both these motors ?

I just want to swap the motor and ECU without having to worry about the wiring. Is it possible ?

I think you may be able to swap just the engine harness (two plugs near battery) and the ecu, someone will have more info for you

Short answer - Probably not.
Long answer - Maybe.

The only way to be sure is to find wiring diagrams for both cars and compare them.
I'm told the plugs should be the same but are probably wired differently, meaning identifing each wire and swapping them around till the plugs match up.
Or like Brumbyboy said strip the EJ22 loom to the bare minimum and add it in on top of your existing loom, same way we do Ej to Brumby/L series.

I know a guy with a well set up Back Yard, and Boy he good at this sort of thing...
but your a fair way away.

Best of luck with it.
Daza.
:D

p.s. Plug? what plug?
no one said anything about sparkplugs!

If you were in Vic this woudn't be allowed. One of the specs over here is that an earlier model engine cannot be put into a later model car unless you have all of the emission regulation crap that the original motor in the car had.

That and the increased capacity is the other issue... I'm not able to stick an EJ22 into my L series cos it doubles the legal capacity increase. If i go out and get everything engineered its ok, but the cost of that really isn't worth it unless the car has other mods being certified at the same time.

Thats how i understand how it is over here... fun fun <insert sarcasim here>...

the pollution stuff looks exactly the same as whatwas in the lib and the impreza. It will have to be engineered for sure not that expensive, comparable to rebuild of EJ16.

I just cant find good wiring digram for the EJ16
