GT40RT coil?

Hi,
I was wondering if any gurus out there could help me.
I have a 90 model L series wagon that I have fitted a GT40RT coil to. It states that it needs to be run in conjunction with a ballast resistor.
Is this coil appropriate?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Hope you didn't pay money for the GT40RT, going by previous reports on this board, its crap.
Besides the OEM one is very good, you really need to spend $$ to get a better coil.

The GT40RT will run without the ballast, because the electronic dizy controls the amount of dwell to the coil. Ballast is only appropriate for the old mechanical points type.

Hey, welcome to this board:p, only maybe you should of found us sooner?

Thanks for the reply Fredsub.
Sounds like I got shafted.
Would I be better off refitting the original coil then?

Do you have a problem with ignition?
If you can return the gt40rt, you should, retailers luv selling them, mostly because of the probably 80-90% mark-up;)

No problems with ignition.
I was just trying to squeeze a bit more perfomance out of the EA82, using the mods recommended on this site.
So far I have modified the exhaust, fitted Iridium plugs and put that dodgy coil in.
Would you recommend leaving the GT40 or putting the original back in?

cheers:)
