factory c/lock connect to aftermkt alarm
factory c/lock connect to aftermkt alarm
I have a 1988 l series touring wagon with factory central locking via key. I've fitted an aftermarket alarm with option for connection to c/locking to have keyless entry.
The alarm pulses to "open" or "shut".
Need advice on how to connect to c/lock, possibly thru relays.

I think you'll find the L-Series does not have a central locking actuator/solenoid in the drivers door, so while you could possibly hook the factory c/lock setup into your alarm I think you'd find it would only open the passenger and rear doors. A much easier option is to get a central locking actuator/solenoid and fit that to the drivers door, then have your alarm control that one only. When it locks/unlocks the drivers door, the others will also lock/unlock. Also avoids having to mess around with any of the existing vehicle wiring.

x2- best way to do it. they do a weird direct switching arrangment in the drivers door - stuff it up and the whole lot goes up in smoke followed by the fuse.Gremlins wrote:I think you'll find the L-Series does not have a central locking actuator/solenoid in the drivers door, so while you could possibly hook the factory c/lock setup into your alarm I think you'd find it would only open the passenger and rear doors. Just did my alarm to central loocking today ironically. If it is any help the pulse wires should be hooked up to the Brown and White wires on aftermarket central locking(don't know on genuine central locking but you should be able to narrow it done). The master/s should have 5 wires going to them. The slaves should have 2 wires going to them. The master will have 1 earth, 2 wires tht go tho the control unit and out to the slaves, and 2 that go only to the control unit, these are to the 2 you want(as above normally brown and white on aftermarket gear). Let us know if that makes sense and how you go. Also note tht if doesn't work the first time switch the alarm wires around.
