4WD LO light stays on now...

Hi All (Especially Suparoo!)
L series 4x4 wagon 1987, When I first bought this car 4 months ago,
I tried it in 4WD to check it all worked including LO ratio. They all worked
so I was happy. However, I don't think it had been in LO for a very long time and the LO light stayed on, maybe a hint that it wanted more LO range action for a change!!!! Anyway - now it's annoying me because I can't figure out how the LO range switch is activated or where it lives. My guess is that the actual switch is stuck ON. I've tried simply shoving it into and out of LO repeatedly but no change.
Any clues anyone? Thanks...

it lives in the center console, under the hi/lo lever

its a microswitch, the metal lever will be bent. You should be able to jsut straighten it to adjust, worst case its a $5 part

my experience says vincentvega is correct...on MYs ,

Brumby 4WD selctor switch is at base of the lever near handbrake

L 5 spd d/r box have them on the box itself, can need cleaning or spacing with o ring or washer to get right again. cleaned with crc before

see technical manuals 5 spd into MY-- details where switches are on the 5 spd d/r box

or a wire could be earthing out somewhere too !

Vincentvega is correct.
The 'LO' switch is near the 4WD lever.
The liberty's run the switch on the 'LO' selector on the gearbox.

in the "L" d/r box in my Brumby, the "4wd" switch is in the box and the "Lo" switch is on the shifter...

lucky I said 'in my experience'. My L 5 speed is out of a 91 wagon and all switches screw into box. Now glad I did not have to set up a switch on levers in the conversion. The lever switch must have been a left over from MY design
Apologies to Vincentvega

Yes L Series had the switch in different positions depending on year models, if you remove the centre console and can't see the switch under the selector, then it's on the gearbox.

my newly acquired 5 spd d/r 3.9 box out of an L is missing both the levers and the Low switch . Hmmph
