brendan (4MUFF) and i where tinkering round the engine bay today and ive gotten home tonight and figured out that when i turn my headlights on, my engine dies  really really bizzare.

during the day we fiddled round with some dodgy wiring, but the problem seemed to resolve itself. ive since gone over those wires again, all seems fine

so now im completely lost as to what to do...the parkers are fine, its just when i turn my main headlights on the engine just stopps....im baffled...

any ideas??

So does the engine just stall? And will it only restart if you turn the headlights back off?

Could be something to do with the wiring to the ECU of something where they have used a head light wire for an Earth accidently..... when the head lights are turned on u lose the Earth and this breaks the circuit and the engine dies.

yeh dave...thats exactly the story....turn the headlight back off and the engine cranks again....

i have been playing around with the "messy" loom and managed to get it all working for the time being...but thats gonna be a pain in the arse when im offroad during the night and the engine dies and cant get it running again;)

the interresting thing is it happened for the first time today after we found some dicky wiring joins in the engine bay --> has since been redone properly

cheers

I guess the first thing would be to find exactly where the fault is... and then look for anything in that area that is live when the head lights are on.... Has to have something to do with the head light voltage going somewhere it's not meant to be... this can't be good for it.

yeh not good...guess im gonna be busy on the weekend........i hate solving electrical problems,,,can caus so much sh#t if its not done right....the wiring harness has been done quite badly in the conversion so i think its all gonna go in favour of an EJ20G soon...
