Hi guys,
Being a Liberty n00b, just thought I'd ask a quick question. On the driver's side strut tower there's a fuse holder with FWD inscribed on the top of it. If I pop a fuse in here does it lock the 'box into FWD mode only? Or does it do something more sinister?

It will put it into front wheel drive only , I believe that it is there for when the vehical is being towed so as not to damage the awd box.
Have been tempted to try it out o0n the RS and light up the tyres [hope shorty dosn't read that bit]....

I wonder how many tow truck drivers actually know about that! :/

My guess is probably very few but these days almost all tows are done using tilt trays so it wouldnt matter a great deal.

Its also not recommended to drive with it like that.
Though if someone coud figure out how to make it work the other way (ie puts it in RWD), that could be a different story....

Normal driving in FWD is fine. hammering it doing burnouts etc.. well you get what your asking for.

So the Subaru owner's manual is lying?

I spose we push the rest of the parts to the limit with the 4wding, why not the expensive electronically controlled centre diff?

This box is in FWD everywhere until the wheels slip. Thats what it feels like anyway - punch the throttle on a wet road and theres nearly a full second of front wheel spinnage before a *thud* and launch.

I can't think of a reason why driving in FWD would be a problem, especially to the centre viscous coupling....

I have seen alot of cars using the FWD link as a burnout stager and with no ill effects to the "expensive electronically controlled centre diff"

My mate has a switch set up off the fuse .He runs around in FWD to save fuel .
I did not read that you got a Liberty Tim or was this Your sisters ride .
