I bought a central locking kit :D
then went looking for a remote for it :(
Turned out it would have been cheaper to buy an alarm or imobilizer than the remote cost :x
Oh well :?
Went in easy n works great :D

You are all giving me confidence guys, cheers. I went into strathfield for a quote and they said for immobilizer and remote central it would be 290 fully installed, sounds alright. What did the super duper one cost ya stinky, would love to have remote start too but isnt it only installed in autos?

It was about $1200 installed, but is the 'top' of the line alarm. There's a switch that only allows the remote start to work if you're in neutral. That way you can't start it and have it drive off one you.

not bad. Is that the alarm that says "viper armed" when you lock your car? and stuff like "step away from the vehicle" my mate has one of them but not the remote start. would love to get one.

Yeah that's the one except I passed on the voice module ... remote start is wanky enough for me :)

I used to have the voice module on my car... took it out after a few months... the talking made people want to make the alarm go off to make it talk. Good for a few weeks... then u will wish u never payed the money for it.

Stinky... what car have u got the remote start on??? is it on a manual car.... i have been wanting to do it to my car but the gear box doesn't have a neutral position switch.. was there a way around this with yours?

maybe ask Chris_Rogers what he can supply you, he was talking about $130 for a central lock kit with boot release some time back

yep it can be done - if you want to do it neatly I would look for the boots that fit between the door and body. (think 90's corolla was close.)
as for the kits - $69 for the actuator kit (4 door) and $70 for the remote unit.

Yeah it's on the Brumby. There's a switch that gets mounted behind the gearstick ( under the centre console stuff ) with 3 posititions (off-on-off) and a wire that goes around the gearstick. When the gearstick is in neutral it's 'on' when it's in either a front or back position it's 'off'. Obviously the switch is sprung so it'll pull itself back to the rear 'on' position if there's any slack on the wire.

This acts as a neutral switch and allows the viper to determine if it's in gear or not.

Autowatch HD for the central locking - dynamco for the remote side of it..

http://www.dynamco.com.au and look at the KECLR TX90

the kits look like any CDL kit except they will pull a house down with torque :)
