electric oil pressure gauge hook up ??

Post by steptoe » Tue Jul 08, 2014 8:02 pm

Ive installed a speco brand oil pressure gauge in dash of the Brumby and not yet hooked up tio the sender bubble, but with ignition on and runnng needle goes to full readout. Be a lot of years since I have doneone and woulda finished the job before turn ignition on. Is this a failsafe sort of thing to make ya look for wire off sender when gauge hits the roof ?

Noticed after, instructions say oil pressure sender must ground to vehicle chassis - but that would be the body of the sender, not the wire....need more warmth outside before I continue...found a 20 year old brass fitting to allow both idiot light sender and gauge sender :)

Id say its the way the sender works, low resistance for low pressure, high resistance for high pressure, no sensor connected is infinite or essentially really high resistance so it reads full scale
