03 Foz upgraded to 05 Headlights?

Post by dyrgutt » Wed Mar 13, 2013 8:00 am

Hey guys, I've swapped my headlights on the 03 XS Foz for the revised 04-05 black shadowed/surrounded ones. Obviously all fits well, but the later models had a second indicator bulb to the far right. Would it be safe to extend/piggy-back the existing signal wiring to the extra bulb without fear of slowing the flash rate down [the extra bulb is rated at 5W]...hmm, does anyone know if you can get LED bulbs for such? Thanks for any thoughts, cheers

Got photos? I don't see there being an issue. 2 x 5w lamps is only 800ma of extra load. There are plenty of cars with bullbars that have 2 front indicators and no issues.

Cool Gannon - that's what I thought. Now I just have to find a male plug to fit the newer style socket, which looks like this:

...any ideas as to where I could get these - if they are common? Cheers

Have you got photos showing the differences between the 2 lights?

Hey Toonga, couldn't find it in there mate - what a bugger. I've actually got a part number for the socket now, so was wondering if anyone had any bright ideas on how to get any further information on the plug?
Image

5 corresponds to: Socket complete-clearance lamp - part no: 84930FC020

Any ideas, as it now appears to be a US/Europe part only?

I searched for that part number via google and found your thread on subaruforester.org :)

Your other bet/guess would be USMB someone in the USA would have access to the plug.

there is a plug for sale on ebay US

http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-SUBARU- ... 7e&vxp=mtr

the seller may have access to the part you need

Thanks heaps Toonga, I posted that info before leaving for work - so after checking your message and looking up that link, i've messaged ol'mate, so hopefully he can come to the party; 'fingers crossed'! I'll have an in-depth search in the meantime, so I might get lucky *hopefully*! Cheers again, and great work!

Where is this second bulb? Looking at the headlights on our 2004 foz, there only appears to be one parker and one indicator

Hey Gannon, yeah - Oz ones are as you say, but as per above, the Euro/US ones have this extra bulb; very annoying. I will get you a photo when I can.
The latest development that will give you all a laugh is the following:

$146.27 :o

So did you buy 4 so you could have spares :p
You know you are getting old when the candles on your birthday cake start to cost more than the cake itself.
