Im not the most savvy person when it comes to ignition but it seems like a simple thing.
Thoughts?

Cheers, Stretch.

Looks very plug and play.

Looks good for people who have points and wish to convert.

Stretch.. is you Brumby points type dizzy?

Wow, I have this sort of thing back in 1980/1 and I fitted it to my Datsun 200B SX.
Worked very well.

Im not even sure, i was just reading all the points servicing stuff in the handbook and assumed it was. Im hoping it is points, and they are reason my cold starts are extremely crap.

Cheers, Stretch.

I would have thought that your 85 model would have electronic dizzy already??

There's a quick way to check, just look at the side of the dizzy and see if it has one wire (points type) or 2 wires (electronic typre) coming out the side of it.

Hard starting? does your Brumby have manual or automatic choke? I found the automatic choke fails to get power to operate correctly. Might be good to have a look at yours??

Manual choke, starts nearly first go everytime, just runs really rough until its warm. Im think its a bit rich in the carby. I wound the idle down and leaned the mixture screw a fair bit. Ran heaps better after that. Might still look into the carby rebuild.

Mine used to be a real chugger while choke was on in petrol days. The two inch exhaust fixed that immediately. One muffler at the back and no resonator dog in the middle

Those little impellers that move air at a slower rate than what the motor itself can draw? Might make a cool whistle though haha

Cheers, Stretch.
