Im thinking third eye for the brat wagon or hatch.

Could be the interior light as well.

From memory, one is permanent power, the other two are earths - one switched by the door. Unfortunately I can't think of the wiring colours.

What is it that you're trying to do exactly?

Mate, I'm trying to get the light working and also trying to determine the power source, trace the wires without tearing the whole interior apart. The light has a black & white wire & a black wire. The door switches have what looks like a connected black wire and a redundant red wire, but it also seems to have been played with sometime in the past. I assume the B&W may be the power wire which runs direct from a +source somewhere to the light then to the door switches which eaths the light when the door is opened , thus power..........but?????

I've had this issue too. The door switches were stuffed on "my" brumby.

I swapped them out with a set that were cleaned up from a touring wagon. I don't think the L series or Liberty onwards would work in place of the MY switch.

And the more I think about it the Earthed wire is actually built into the light, using one of the mounting screws ;)

Have you got a multi metre or a test light to determine which wire is the positive? Also is the fuse any good? And last of all, are you up grading the interior light or just trying to get the old dim one going again?

Cheers

Mate, It's not worked since I bought the Brumby and is now the priority (until the paint job anyway), I'll have a play over the next couple of days and see if I can ID a power source. no ELECTRICKERY at the light itself, so will need to continue searching.
cheers

Bennie is right, one of the screws is the earth. So you need to have a bulb in, and fully re-assemble the light to test it. I learned this after I nearly threw away an LED panel because it didn't work when dangling from the wires

one result showthread.php?t=22523

You will need to do some testing of what you have in the way of wires and when they change , so long as the door switch is giving a changed repsonse with a door open and close, and make sure you insulate the wires from the body and have a few spare fuses

Ok, found a corroded and broken connection at the rear of the cab floor level- Repaired, I now have power to the interior light which does operates via the light switch- that's a positive. But nothing from the door switches. Still thinking the issue may revolve around the fact that there are two wires at each door switch. One connected, the other (red) cut & redundant. Disconnected the tested it , it has an unbroken circuit but does nothing, the red wire has power. Thoughts ??

If you looked at the wiring diagram, you'll notice that the circuit passes through to your dash ( door open indicator ) it then earths somewhere near there for the dash light. Power for Door / Dome light switch goes from fuse box, up to Dome light ( LY ), back down to Dash indicator light ( BR ), then on to Door switch ( LR / LB or GB / GY ) & finally earths there ( B ). Edit : The earth wire ( B ) after the door switch also goes to other places on the same cuircuit ie: side lamps etc ... It needs to be connected at the door switch ( the switch actually closes to complete circuit when you open the door ) or it won't work.

Note : + Check wiring diagram for colours ...

If you bypass the dash & switch the door directly to earth, the interoir light might work, but you'll have problems with other lights + your dash indicators that are connected to the same circuit ... :)

I hope that helps, Bantum ...

Note : I had to revise this several time's to get right ! ... :(

think you found that the door switch handles the POS+ power for the light as I recall playing with switch and zapping wires contacts against body and blowing a fuse. I expected door switch just to be the earth side to eliminate accidents etc

Note : If your still not getting any dash lights, check all connections to make sure it's still securely plugged in - ie: no loose wires or short curcuits & also make sure the fuse is not blown ... ;)

Addition : For the dash indicator light to work, the ignition must also be turned on ! ... :)
