Always had the intention to try an install, so unknowingly to self been hoarding each and every one that came by as a result i now have a good supply (just not all in same place :( )

The actual installation was inspired by Carl or Clive , unsure, so both get it :) , who has done so and posted a picture up somewhere.

I thought I'd add a little by some pics ? some time.

I tore a flap of a carboard box to make me a marking template.

Hole is 122 x 45mm in template. marked halfway at 61mm to help line up centre with mirrors screws in the Brumby.

marked hole reasonably central in the foam liner hump , no fear, there is heaps a room above it too !

Nice sharp Stanley blade in hand and cut out real easy. Light unit fed in one end at a time , then realised the tubular plastic casting that located in holes in the L Series, don't need them in MY Brumby application so they were cut off flush with backside of main panel.

All I need to do is hook up wires to the L Seris interior light further back and she's apples - i think :D

Interesting, so what is actually holding the map light assembly in place? did you use the rear view mirror screws? Pics please! :o

yep it is that easy.
I did tap into the power befor the interior light so the map lights could be switched independantly and Oh put some of those LED bulbs in the map light they work awsome.

make your hole more than 122 x 45 and friction may not hold it in :D

The roof lining in the Brumby is a hard cell foam coated with the vinyl, topped with corrugated cardboard. Unsure if it is same in MY wagons and sedans.
Carl used those speed nut style clips like on sheet panels me thinks.

Glue the bugger in if you have to or pop rivet it to yer roof :D

Got any pic's ...

havin' a bit of a clean up today i found a better coloured unit to suit the brumby grey, a bluey grey, found two actually, so one for each ute :)

with some determination i finished off the job using left over speed nuts from speaker install last night, had the factory wiring and found to tap the pos power off the standard interior lights female spade connector and earth the other wire to the body, not the std lights earth wire as it is switched byy the door. do it my way and map lights work alone but will remain after closing door so remember to switch'em'orf ! fitted in led just in case i do ...... next ute and i'll have two less bits a hoarded crap sitting around for more years
