Can anyone tell me where the L series lighting relay is located and what it looks like. I am guessing it may be up under the dash above the fuse box.
Driving to work in heavy industrial traffic on the highway at 100k's/hr, at 6am and the lights are going off for a few seconds and coming back on. I think sometimes it is not just the lights but might (big might) also be taking out the parkers. It does take out the high beam sometimes too.
Bit hard to tell as I am busy trying not to run into something at speed.
I have also noticed if the car is stopped and the lights are turned off waiting a few seconds and turning the lights back on sometimes the lights take a second to come on and sometimes they are OK.
It could be an earthing issue or on the lighting stalk but I thought I would look at the relay at some stage of the fault finding process and so would like to know where/what it looks like.
Are there any known faults with L series lighting ?
I have noted from other posts people have rewired theirs due to crap lighting brightness and relays getting hot.
Have there been known problems with the lighting stalk ?

thats right, under the drivers dash, canister looking things.
They do get rather very warm.


Why do all these heavy current carrying wires need to come out to the dash and then back to the front of the car ?.......re-wiring is a major job though.

think this is them or they are the same anyway.

As I noted from other posts from the past the cluster itself is a dog. The switching is a bit lame (but I guess usually effective) for the lights.
With a replacement cluster from the wreckers I am back in business and I have 4 spare relays which are all the same.
At least it is a simple matter of pulling the plastic cover off the switching contacts on the cluster and clean them up. Now I have a spare anyway.
