MY/Brum - no tickers, no hazards - zip

Jumped in the Brum this morning and off I go, took a while to register the tickers were not ticking nor even lighting up!! :(

Checked the hazards, nothin there either. They have worked perfectly for years, even as recent as yesterday - which was wet, and the screen rubber has an odd leak due to shrinking rubbers, and the blink unit is just wghere you might imagine a windscreen leak would go......pulls out the unit Bosch electronic P1234, cover off and there is a definite rusty tinge to things, corrosion on the legs of the IC.

I suspected it was worse - like the switch combo unit due to no lights at all. never had a flasher unit not glow the lights. The Brumby and MY use the one flasher unit for both tickers and hazards. Chucked in a new Narva 3 pin P/N 68238BL , states a max load of 6 x 21W + 5W

Oh, had forgot what control plus does on the keyboard 'til now

All good

What if your indicators are both flashing, but really fast?
All lights are working etc. It is a Brumby

You've either got a globe that's blown or you're running globes that are too low wattage for the blinker box (for the want of a better name for it) - same goes if you're running LEDs, you'll need an LED blinker box to give the appropriate flashing time ;)

Clear as mud?

Cheers

The flasher unit requires a certain amount of electrical load to flash at the correct speed. If LED replacement lights are fitted you can just fit resisters in each circuit to simulate a normal globe.

Jonno when you said tickers I thought you meant the tickers in the engine bay

My indicators work fine but if I press the hazards switch only one side ticks

oh ! And you thought a flash can that fixed it was a bit like Peter Brock and his Energy Polariser :D
the one sided thing may likely be in the combo switch tickers, high beam on your steering column

Would make sense, if I flick the indicator stalk forwards for permanent high beam, all lights turn off...bit scary at night!
Pulling it backwards they come on fine though.
