gen3 outback cruise control

hey guys,

first and only issue with the new outback.

my gen3 liberty has exactly the same setup so i assume itd work the same way.

on the outback i press the button on the right of the steering wheel, it lights up, i try and engage cruise control and it does nothing, then after about 10seconds the light turns off on the button and wont let me turn it back on until i turn the car off and on again.

what the hell is the problem? ive had a very quick skim over the cable and all seems normal to where it attaches to the throttle body. Fuse it okay too.

any ideas?

Yep.. your problem is you brought a Gen3 and not a Gen2 Outback with Twin Turbo !!

But I have seen this before and it was a wheel sensor issue. When I get home, we'll chuck the car on the scanner and watch what all the sensors are doing. Unless you need it sorted asap.. cause you're too lazy to use your foot :p:p:p

Maybe do an ECU reset for fun in the mean time.

cheers guys, yes Paul i am mega lazy and i use cruise control proabably at least once each time when im driving.

Just doing a longish trip to margret river in the car next week, and i cbf holding the accelerator down for that long haha.

Andrew, i'll probably be chucking a new battery in it tomorrow so the inevitibale ecu reset will probably occur then :)

Want some cheese with your whine? I drove across oz and back without cruise! Harden up!!! At least you know you can sort it later and it's not a permanent problem

Oh, and your sig should say "wanky wagon Gen 3". Just a though...

Cheers

Reset on the ECU will clear any codes in memory but if the fault is still there (for instance fault wheel sensor) then the moment you drive the car, it will reappear. So try it out and see how it goes.

Actually Alex I would keep my mouth shut about that, as before The Kwinana carpark gets to Thomas road it is a shift fight (take the "f" away in shift) Unless you just worked on the Forrest HWY bit.

a long drive is Perth to Ceduna in 10 hours :) (don't ask)

yes im talking the Forrest hwy bit. Kwinana fwy runs up to Pinjarra Road where it changes to the Forrest Hwy.

This was when i was working in the bridges department of my work. Did the majority of the bridges and culverts over the new part. So if they fail DONT blame me :P
