I've got a question for any guru's who know about subaru factory imobilisers, specifically for 3rd gen liberty's...
I'm guessing that each imobiliser control unit is paired to a specific key, but is it also paired to a specific ecu?
I am about to embark on my tt conversion and i'm wondering if I will have to use the key, barrel and imobiliser unit from the halfcut, or can I use the existing key and imobiliser and wire it into the tt ecu...?

I remember once a mate had a wrx and he got a spare key cut that didn't have the imobiliser chip in it, and when they tried to start the car with it, the ecu locked down and then wouldn't even start with the original key, and he had to pay subaru a small fortune to come out and re-enable the ecu...

should be fine. Fairly sure it isnt integrated into the ecu.

Most wrx's would be however, with their ghey brandt alarm systems.

If you need advice, contact Al at amauto.com - he'll know what to do. You could send the two looms to him and it'll come back as one factory looking unit

I thought the later subarus are plug and play - meaning that you could plug the tt ecu and loom into the immobiliser and matching key of your recipient outback... But I've not played with this personally - some one who has will have to let you know. I'm sure Al will have come across this

You should be able to keep your original key and immobiliser, and use them with your new ecu.
