L series Alternator

Anyone bothered to do one up? I fried mine, rectifier and regulator smoked.
I had it quoted and was pulled down to do this. The rebuild price was ridiculous, so I settled to buy a remanufactured replacement at half the price.

What its left me is a box of bits, a good stator and windings, sliprings are good. Just need a new rectifier plate and regulator IC. Is it worth bothering with? Its a Hitachi LR160 -138, good for approx 58A.

This may or may not be the appropriate place to post this, but might answer your question about if its worth doing...

Anybody on the forum want an L series alternator? I have a 100% working one you can have for free!

Damn, just ordered one that day through Jonno's work.
Costin me an arm and a leg for a rebuilt one - ex east air freight. I wanted it before Easter so I can have a crack at running the car again to iron out the bugs.

A lesson to us all... post before u buy. There are a lot of spare parts sitting in sheds around the place... all u need to do is ask.
