IGN module trivia EA82 & EA82T 3 plug

Been comparing the normal ignition module from an EA81 which is universal fit for normal EA82, and found it is not same dimensions or mounting screw points as the 3 plug ECU EA82T dizzy with vacuum advance/retard function.
I was thinking that as an option to nil 3 plug ignition module available in future (or just plain stuck on roadside with 26 year old car) whether I could simply use the easily available std module instead, as at 16 D BTDC on LPG I get no response from knock sensor indicating zero knock from fuel or ignition settings. Was thinking straight swap in may work, but of course they were not designed to be easily interchangeable. I am sure an adapter could be made up to convert if need came. Idea was to retain advance retard function of this dizzy. Another option will be to use plain old EA82 dizzy.
About six weeks ago turbo L gave a little short hic momentarily and I have parked it since and just moved it waiting for fiddling time - that time is about now. I do miss the turbo oomph
