EA82T 3plug ECU knock box differences

For the few remaining EA82T dedicated or knowledgables in here (fats dying breed aren't we?)
Two makers of these knock boxes found between the glovebox and door frame mounted on a bracket that reveals two philips head screws inside an opened passenger door of 3 plug ECU EA82T RX or GLTA L Series
Hitachi makes a metal box in zinc plating. Denso make a black plastic box. Quick inspection the wiring appears to be same, same pin pattern on the plug that sits below ignition coil. You'd think if they were not compatible they'd use different config.
Anyone know if these units are infact interchangeable without any complications?
